How to find us
Our farm is based HERE at Lauriston Farm, in Northwest Edinburgh, between Granton and Cramond
Lauriston Farm is a big 100 acre site and we are at the North-West corner of it. If you arrive at the ‘top’ of the farm by the Toby Carvery restaurant then you’ll need to walk North-West diagonally across the big field towards the polytunnels.
Whe you reach the deer fence, follow the fence line until you reach a gate by the big shed and shipping containers.
We are in the horse shoe of dark grey containers :)
Cycling: The Roseburn Cycle Path will get you most of the way to the farm from the centre of town (Haymarket) in 25 minutes. Aim for ‘Lauriston Community Farm’ behind the Toby Carvery Restaurant then walk or cycle across the big field towards the polytunnels as above.
Bus: Lothian Buses 16, 27, 29, 37 & 47 all stop within 5 minutes of the farm. If you’re catching the 47 you can get off at Barnton Gardens and walk down the hill to the gate.
Hours: Most week-days from around 10am - 6pm, but give us a heads up if you plan on popping down!
Accessibility
Our team includes a number of neurodivergents with very different accessibility needs - so we are open to suggestions about how we can make our space and gatherings more inclusive and engaging. Unfortunately our site is not particularly accessible. There is a wheelchair accessible compost loo but our farm container, office and cabins arenot wheelchair accessible - some of the outdoor spaces we grow mushrooms are more accesible as they are less narrow and the paths are generally in good condition but can become boggy in winter.
If you need an interpreter, carer, or support worker to come with you to attend one of our ticketed events or workshops you do not need to pay for two tickets, but please get in touch by email so we can ensure there's space for everyone. If you have any other questions about accessability please reach out at info@rhyzemushrooms.org
Contact us
We are a small team of v. busy people trying to run a mushroom farm so we can be a bit slow with emails. To help reduce our admin overwhelm and make sure you get the info you need, please have a read of this page before e-mailing us :)
Interested in Volunteering with us?
We host regular volunteer sessions from 2-5pm on Wednesdays and Fridays. Mostly these sessions involve supporting us with all aspects of mushroom cultivation, doing repairs and upgrades on the farm and contributing to the hive mind of problem solving that keeps things ticking over. Volunteers also sometimes support evening and weekend events, markets, workshops and community work outside of these Wednesday and Friday shifts. Volunteering with us is a great way to develop a solid understanding of indoor mushroom cultivation, we do our best to ensure our volunteering sessions are valuable learning experiences and are also very happy to give away spawn and other bits to help folk get started growing their own mushrooms at home.
Use this form to register to volunteer with us!
